The latest books that I’ve read and liked.

Animal Farm

by George Orwell

Or how to steal a revolution and install a tyrant orders or magnitude worse than the original one.

Four legs good, two legs BETTER!

The Doomed City

by Arkady & Boris Strugatsky

A book so politically risky that its very existence was kept secret for sixteen years.
It is a mysterious city with an artificial sun, bordered by an abyss on one side and an impossibly high wall on the other. Its inhabitants have been plucked from different periods of twentieth-century history and left to govern themselves.
This is satire, philosophy, dark comedy, and dystopia. Excellent.

The Year’s Best Science Fiction: Thirty-Fifth Annual Collection

Enjoyable anthology,  good collection of contemporary stories.

Transgalactic

by A.E. van Vogt

A golden nugget from the Golden Age of Science Fiction. Falling empires, rebirth of civilizations, spaceships, bows and arrows. A window into the 1940’s.

Double Star

Political intrigue, satire, and science fiction. What could go wrong? Excellent book.

The Mechanical (The Alchemy Wars #1)

Although I’ve never really been a fan of Steampunk, this one surprised me. Great fun. Will go after the second one in the series for sure.

The Sirens of Titan

This book is from 1959. It’s not outdated. From one of my favorite authors.
